Theseventh edition of Mechanical Engineering Design marks a return to thebasic approaches that have made this book the standard in machinedesign for over 40 years. At the same time it has been significantlyupdated and modernized for today's engineering students andprofessional engineers. Working from extensive market research andreviews of the 6th edition, the new 7th edition features reducedcoverage of uncertainty and statistical methods. Statistics is nowtreated (in chapter 2) as one of several methods available to designengineers, and statistical applications are no longer integratedthroughout the text, examples and problem sets. Overall coverage of basicconcepts has been made more clear and concise, with some advancedtopics deleted, so that readers can easily navigate key topics. Problemsets have been improved, with new problems added to help studentsprogressively work through them.
