The Role:
The Low Voltage Hardware team is responsible for designing the electrical “nervous system” of Tesla vehicles. Our goal is to design circuit boards to distribute power from the battery to each electrical device as efficiently as possible. We control hundreds of electrical devices including motors, sensors, switches, and LEDs to power user-facing systems such as seats, doors, HVAC, powertrain, safety, chassis, exteriors, lighting, and more.
Responsibilities
- Start-to-finish hardware ownership: Specification, architecture, design, simulation, schematic, layout supervision, prototype, validation, and manufacturing of circuit boards.
- Collaborate with PCB layout, firmware, reliability, program management, mechanical, and EMC teams
- Thoroughly document design requirements, calculations, power budgets, validation results, etc
- Rapidly iterate as design requirements and vehicle features mature over time
Requirements
- 5+ years of design experience
- Circuit board design (Altium preferred)
- Specification, architecture, design, simulation, prototype, schematic, layout supervision, validation, and manufacturing
- Strong understanding of:
- Analog & digital circuits (MOSFETs, op-amps, switching regulators, gate drivers, microcontrollers, SPI, I2C, etc)
- Component selection, variance, power dissipation, thermal management, etc
- Exceptional organization and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Ability to tackle problems and reason using a first principles approach
- Proficiency with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, electronic loads, signal generators, etc)
Preferred Skills
- Basic programming ability (Python preferred)
- Experience shipping high-volume circuit boards
- Knowledge of automotive design requirements
- Design for autonomous vehicles (fail-safe redundancy)
- Entrepreneurial passion

The Role:
We are looking for a PCB Layout Designer to optimize the design of PCBs with respect to layout, electrical and mechanical constraints, manufacturability, and relative costs of various alternatives.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with reading schematics, placing for low parasitic capacitance, inductance and PCB layout techniques for power electronics circuits.
- Familiarity with high voltage circuit board creepage and clearance requirements, with voltages up to 1500V.
- Extensive experience with Altium net classes, high voltage rules, variants and rooms
- Familiarity with Altium Designer PCB layout tools and schematic capture.
- Proficiency in the design of printed circuit boards using fine pitch and ball grid array integrated circuits and large through hole parts.
- A good understanding of the PCB layout process and IPC Standards.
- Familiarity with PCB fabrication, design for manufacturing techniques for high volume designs.
- Familiarity with taking PCB layout through to completion of board files, generation of BOMs, and upload to PLM.
- Familiarity with PC track widths and copper weights needed when considering current and temperature of operation of the PCB.
- Some awareness of the requirements for PCBs operating at frequencies as high as 6GHz.
- Familiar with layout practices to mitigate EMC/EMI issues.
- Good communication skills.
Bonus qualifications:
- Familiarity with Altium PCB layout tools.
- Familiarity with PCB requirements for frequencies as high at 80GHz.
- Familiarity with the Altium Vault.

职位描述:PCB Librarian工程师需要能够从一个符号派生出这个部件是什么/做什么以及它如何适配一个更大型的系统。理想的候选人应该具备丰富的从设计到生产、从符号/封装创建到布局再到生产的经验。他需要具备电子技术相关背景。坦率地说:如果你不知道rdson,tc,vrwm,vbr的意思,或者不清楚MOV和VDR之间的区别,那该岗位并不适合你。

The Role:
We are looking for a PCB Librarian Designer who should be able to derive from the symbol what a part is / does and how it fits in a larger system. We make functional symbols, not rectangular blobs or "internetuino style" symbols. The ideal candidate should have taken several designs to production, from symbol/footprint creation over layout to production, so he/she understands the problems you can run into. (like being able to spot mistakes in datasheets) . This is NOT a “draftsman / drawing” role. Electronics background is required. To be blunt: if you don't know what rdson, tc, vrwm, vbr mean, or the difference between a MOV and a VDR, it won't go well in the interview.
Preferred qualifications:
- Altium experience mandatory
- Know your way around Solid works is a +. No need to be an expert but basic manipulation like slicing / simplifying an existing model and making simple models like LED's connectors etc.
- Be a wizard with tools like excel, notepad++ to extract and "massage" data like pin lists, part lists, BOM's and the likes.
- Attention to detail.
- Be able to work of minimal input. Here's the datasheet, figure it out.
- Electronics background/Design experience: understand schematics and components.
Bonus qualifications:
- Familiarity with the Altium Vault.
